VINEYARD NOTES
Usual warm 95+ Fahrenheit days with cool diurnal, but some windy nights were more predominant than usual at this rocky granite site. Ripening was happening fast yet acids tended not to want to hold, so an early as possible picking date was needed. The Roussanne and Marsanne were picked on the same day into the same bins on October 2nd.
WINEMAKING NOTES
The Roussanne and Marsanne were whole cluster pressed into stainless steel, and a spontaneous fermentation was allowed to ferment the wine dry. Once finished the wine was transferred with the lees into stainless steel barrels to retain freshness and varietal character. Lees were stirred once per month for 6 months. At month seven the wine was transferred clear and bottled with sterile filtration, so additional sulfur was not needed.
TASTING NOTES
Aromas reveal baked pear and fennel with tropical notes. Classic Roussanne notes display honeysuckle and marzipan, with an almost a green tea leaf component from the Marsanne. Smooth and ripe tannins complement the crisp, mouthwatering acidity and flow through to the finish. This wine lasts long in the mouth but does not last long on the table. Delicious. Drink now.
FOOD PAIRING
Dishes that are savory and aromatic. Buttery seafood dishes.
